Former Tribune reporter and first director of Friends of the Elephant Seal assumes lead role at BCA

San Luis Obispo, CA – Susan McDonald has been named Account Manager for Barnett Cox & Associates.   In her new position, McDonald is responsible for strategy, budget and creative oversight for several BCA clients, including Shea Homes/Trilogy Central Coast, Coast Hills Federal Credit Union, and Garden Street Terraces of San Luis Obispo.   She was formerly senior copywriter for the firm.

McDonald, a longtime North Coast resident, comes to the position with a deep background in communication services.  She worked as a reporter for the Telegram- Tribune from 1990 to 1997, with a year spent as managing editor of The Cambrian in 1994.   In 1997, she became the first executive director for Friends of the Elephant Seal, a nonprofit organization dedicated to marine life education and stewardship on the North Coast. She was a member of the public relations team that helped with the successful effort to conserve the 82,000-acre Hearst Ranch.  McDonald joined BCA following a two-year post at the Cal Poly Public Affairs office as a senior writer and editor for Cal Poly Magazine.
